XML - HL7 - IHE ...

  • Is a standard for the healthcare industry.

  • An acronym for Health Level 7, it is a standard for healthcare and is the interface standard for communication between various systems employed in the medical community.

  • An ANSI-accredited standards development organization created in the 1980s to develop standards for healthcare computer applications to share data. (See www.hl7.org.)

  • HL7 is a specification for a health data-interchange standard designed to facilitate the transfer of health data resident on different and disparate computer systems in a health care setting. HL7 facilitates the transfer of laboratory results, pharmacy data and other information between different computer systems. HL7 is not designed to support the transfer of the entire patient record. HL7 does not support the transfer of image data (such as from a PACS).

  • An ANSI-accredited group that defines standards for the cross-platform exchange of information within a health care organization. HL7 is responsible for specifying the Level Seven OSI standards for the health industry. The X12 275 transaction will probably incorporate the HL7 CRU message to transmit claim attachments as part of a future HIPAA claim attachments standard. The HL7 Attachment SIG is responsible for the HL7 portion of this standard.

  • Health Level 7, the ANSI standard for information interchange between foreign systems in the healthcare industry. The "7" refers to the fact that the protocol is designed to address the 7th layer of the International Standards Organization's Open System Interconnect model (the application layer)

  • Health Level Seven. An application layer (hence "Level Seven", from the OSI model) protocol suite for clinical and administrative data. Later versions define application messages using XML. There a range of EDI standards covering different application sectors.

  • Health Level 7 (HL7) is the leading international standard for data exchange between computer systems in healthcare. It enables interoperability between electronic Patient Administration Systems (PAS), Electronic Practice Management (EPM) systems, Laboratory Information Systems (LIS), Dietary, Pharmacy and Billing systems as well as Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.

Définition HL7

http://www.hl7.org/

ealth Level Seven is one of several American National Standards Institute (ANSI) -accredited Standards Developing Organizations (SDOs) operating in the healthcare arena. Most SDOs produce standards (sometimes called specifications or protocols) for a particular healthcare domain such as pharmacy, medical devices, imaging or insurance (claims processing) transactions. Health Level Seven’s domain is clinical and administrative data. Our mission is to: "To provide standards for the exchange, management and integration of data that support clinical patient care and the management, delivery and evaluation of healthcare services. Specifically, to create flexible, cost effective approaches, standards, guidelines, methodologies, and related services for interoperability between healthcare information systems."
